Family, Football, and Friends

Have you ever had family?  We have many mysteries in the world like the Bermuda Triangle, Bigfoot, UFO’s, Spongebob Squarepants.  But I think the biggest mystery might be families.  Have you ever looked at or known two people from the same family and wonder how they could be from the same family?  Two people can be raised in the same house, same parents, yada, yada, yada, and turn out so differently.  What’s even more interesting is how those people interpret their own family.  Same house, same parents, different experiences.  Sometimes it has to do with varying ages.  Sometimes it has to do with how they view their own lives.  What becomes frustrating is when one family member refuses to consider the fact that maybe their sibling didn’t experience the home the same way.  Maybe what was a happy time for them, wasn’t so happy for their brother or sister.  Why are we so stubborn to think that our experiences in a situation are the “real” experiences.  If you put seven people into the same room, at the same time, they will come out with seven different experiences.  My point in all of this is that we need to communicate.  Ask questions.  You say it was different for you and I don’t see how.  How was it different?  Help me to understand why you are dealing with issues and I have no issues (that I will admit).  You know the old saying.  Something borrowed, something blue, families suck.  Not really, but when the doo doo hits the fan, they may be all you got.

On a happier note, it’s Friday!!!!! Another week of school down the drain and I survived.  Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up next week and I’m actually looking forward to them.  I have some issues that need to be dealt with.  There’s nothing more satisfying than telling a parent how dysfunctional their child is.

ESPN:  Notre Dame - USC Preview

Looking forward to the big Notre Dame-USC game this weekend.  It might actually be a good game.  Maybe a win for us Irish faithful?  We’ll see.  It’s got to be more exciting than the Tennessee Titans current “let’s get the first pick of the draft” tour.  So many things can go wrong, and most of them have.

The Tennessean: Titans still stuck in memories of ,08.

Speaking of football.  I want to give a shout out to my best friend Jeff.  When I moved East, he moved South.  Football just isn’t the same long distance on the phone.  Still good, but not the same.  I miss you Jeff!  I love you man! (envision a single tear rolling down my cheek).

In conclusion, remember, you can pick your nose, you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick your friends nose.  I’m out.
